01 Does a home fixture affect my move?
It can, and it is the one genuinely local thing to check. On a match day the roads around the stadium and the routes in from the stations change character for most of the day, and parking near them disappears. We check the fixture list against your date at survey and move the loading window if it helps.
02 What is different about the riverside houses?
Age and volume. Georgian and Victorian villas along the river hold far more than the floor plan suggests — basements, half-landings, box rooms and garden stores — and the building is frequently more fragile than the contents. Boards and padding go down before anything moves.
03 Can you park on the riverside streets?
Rarely close. TW1's older streets are permit-controlled with nothing spare, the riverside roads are narrow, and there is very little off-street standing. We establish the loading point at survey and, where the vehicle cannot get near, we shuttle.
04 Do you cover Richmond and Kew?
We work to the edges but not into them. Richmond, Kew and East Sheen have their own specialist on our network and know those streets better than we would, so we point you there rather than covering a town in passing.
05 Do you do mansion flats?
Regularly — St Margarets and the roads off the Chertsey Road have a good deal of the stock. The building's rules matter more than the physics: a goods lift may need booking, there may be permitted hours, and some blocks require protective covering in the communal areas.
06 How do you work out a price?
Volume, access at both ends, how much packing you want done, and distance. In TW1 the access line is a real one — a riverside villa with no standing and a staircase that turns twice is genuinely more work than a Whitton semi at the same volume.
07 Does a survey cost anything?
No. And on the older riverside stock it is not optional: the staircase, the basement and the standing point are not visible from a room count, and they are what decide the day.
08 Can you do a video survey?
For most Whitton and modern addresses, yes. For a Georgian villa or a mansion block we would rather come and look at the stair and the loading point ourselves.
09 Do you move period and listed property?
Constantly. Much of TW1 sits in a conservation area and there is listed stock along the river. Lime plaster marks where modern plaster would shrug, original boards scuff, and a Georgian frame will not forgive a corner taken at speed.
10 What needs cases rather than blankets?
Veneered and inlaid furniture, marble and glass tops, gilt, large mirrors, long-case clocks and framed work. This part of the borough carries a lot of it, and those are identified at survey and crated.
11 Do you move pianos?
Uprights routinely, with the correct board and straps. Grands we assess first, and out of an upper floor with a turned Georgian stair we would rather bring in a piano specialist than improvise.
12 Are my things insured?
Goods in transit and storage cover are in place, with the usual conditions around owner-packed cartons and items of unusual value. Declare anything genuinely valuable at survey and we will confirm in writing what applies.
13 Can you store things between places?
Yes — wrapped, listed on an inventory and racked indoors, collected as part of the same move. Borough chains run long, so it comes up more than people expect.
14 What if my completion slips?
The load stays on the vehicle or goes into store overnight rather than onto a pavement. We tell you plainly what that means for the booking rather than sending a surprise invoice.
15 Do you pack, or is that on me?
Either, or a split. The usual arrangement is that you do the books, the clothes and the garage and we do the kitchen, the glass, the pictures and anything old.
16 Is the A316 useful?
For getting out, very. It runs to the M3 one way and towards Chiswick and the M4 the other, which makes a long move from here quicker to start than from most of inner London. At peak it is a different road, so the loading hour matters.
17 Do you do office moves?
Small commercial — offices around the town centre and King Street, practices, studios and small units. Out of hours usually makes most sense so trading stops for the least time.
18 Do you cover Teddington and Hampton?
The edges, yes. Further into Kingston or out towards Hounslow is another site's patch, and we will say so rather than quoting for streets we would only see occasionally.
19 Who handles the customs paperwork on a European move?
We do, built from the survey inventory. Since the UK left the EU a household move needs a proper packing list and the destination country's transfer-of-residence process, and each of the four differs.
