Flat & mansion flat removals in Twickenham

Flats, conversions and mansion flats across TW1 and TW2 — where the building's rules matter as much as its staircase.

Twickenham's flats come in three shapes: mansion blocks around St Margarets and the main roads, conversions carved out of older villas, and newer purpose-built stock near the stations. Each fails in a different place.

The five questions

  • What floor, and is there a lift
  • If there is a lift, does it take furniture and does it need booking
  • How tight is the stairwell turn
  • How wide is the communal door
  • Where can the vehicle legally stand, and how far is the carry

Mansion flats

The easiest buildings here physically and the fussiest administratively. A porter or a managing agent who expects to be told, a designated goods lift, a booking sheet, sometimes permitted hours and occasionally required floor covering in the communal areas.

None of that is difficult — it just has to be arranged rather than discovered, and in the popular blocks a lift slot is genuinely harder to secure than the date. Several of these buildings are listed or sit in conservation areas, so original communal tiling, panelling and ironwork get protection before anything moves.

Villa conversions

Generous rooms, tall windows, and a staircase built for one household that now serves four. The turn on the half-landing is the one measurement that cannot be guessed, so we measure it before quoting rather than discovering it with a sofa halfway up.

Newer blocks

Near the stations and on the main roads. Proper communal doors, frequently a lift, and somewhere sensible to stand. The constraint is the road outside at peak rather than the building.

A single room is usually man and van, whole houses are on house removals, and St Margarets has the bulk of the mansion stock.

Before you book

Flat move questions

Short answers. If yours is not here, send it with your enquiry and we will answer it properly.

What do you need to know about a flat?

Floor, whether there is a lift and whether it takes furniture, how tight the stairwell turn is, how wide the communal door is, and where the vehicle can legally stand.

What is different about a mansion flat?

Procedure rather than physics. There is usually a porter or a managing agent, often a designated goods lift with a booking sheet, sometimes permitted hours, and occasionally required floor covering in the communal areas.

Is the lift slot really the hard part?

Frequently, yes. In the popular blocks around St Margarets a goods-lift slot can be harder to secure than the removal date itself, so it is worth arranging early.

What about villa conversions?

Big rooms and a staircase built for one household now serving four. The turn on the half-landing decides whether a sofa leaves in one piece, and we measure it before quoting.

Will you protect communal areas?

Yes. Your neighbours did not agree to your move — edges get protection, the stair stays passable, and the front door is not propped longer than the carry needs.
